The board of education is considering amending the 2013-14 academic calendar to include the following as make-up days if necessary in the following order:
May 2nd, April 21st, April 18th, June 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20.
If graduation needs to be rescheduled once again, it will be scheduled on either Monday June 16th, or whenever the last day of school occurs.
If the board should approve this or a form of this proposal it will be posted on this website immediately.
The vision of the Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center is to provide an environment for all children that is safe, educationally progressive, and filled with experiences that will enable students to be prepared for success in secondary school as measured by state and local assessment results.
3rd grade students will participate in the Dinosaur, Rocks, Minerals and Fossil Show today. This curriculum-based show will explain geology and the formation of rocks, as well as, how minerals are identified. Students will view rare and unusual minerals and hear from paleontologists. There will be an early lunch on this day for all grades. Also 2nd and 3rd grade will flip-flop specials times on this day.
(Due to the amount of snow days school districts in Pennsylvania have encountered this winter, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has extended the testing window for the Reading and Math PSSA test.)
The gifted students will be meeting with Laura Anderson, Wyoming County Conservation Educational Coordinator, to disucss bears.

2013-2014 STEM Design Challenge will be held at Johnson College on Friday, April 4th. Teams of four are challenged to create an environmentally friendly people mover from K’Nex. The vehicle built must be able to travel at least four feet across a table and must overcome at least one obstacle. Teams must create a project, answer narrative questions, create a blueprint, and produce a short presentation. LTEC will be sending two teams of four to compete. Go Trail!

(Tentative) Students in 2nd Grade will take the InView/Terra Nova exams on these days.
The gifted students will be taking a science field trip to see Doktor Kaboom at the Kirby Center on April 29th. This 60 minute presentation will feature science experiments that will involve, excite, educate, and entertain the students. Doktor Kaboom is a great way to explore science content in a fun and challenging way!
Today is Field Day for all students in kindergarten from 9:00-12:00.
All students in kindergarten are permitted to wear their gym day attire today.
